‘Nevermind’: Why is the Nirvana album cover baby suing Kurt Cobain?

There is some truly iconic album art out there: The Beatles’ Abbey Road cover, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, and, of course, Nirvana’s Nevermind. Everyone can see the naked baby swimming in their mind’s eye right now, right? That’s the sign of a truly great piece of album cover art. Now, however, the man that was Nirvana’s Nevermind baby is suing the band.

Why? According to Spencer Elden, the baby-man in question, he’s alleging that the band “sexually exploited” him as a minor. Attorneys for Elden said in legal documents filed in California, “The images exposed Spencer’s intimate body part and lasciviously displayed Spencer’s genitals from the time he was an infant to the present day.” It also says that band “intentionally commercially marketed Spencer’s child pornography.”

The Internet has some thoughts. So let’s take a look at what people are saying online about Elden’s lawsuit.

Smells like something alright

What 90s girl didn’t?

RIP to the eyebrows. That could be a class action suit.

W-o-w

There is something about this lawsuit, huh?

English teachers teach this

Seriously, this is ironic or foreshadowing and we don’t know what.

Can you *feel* the jokes forming?

And the comedy has begun.

*applause*

Legitimately, a good burn.

Circle of something, we guess

Well it’s some kind of circle.

*sighs*

We all learned a lot today.

Ow

Self-burn that’s rare.
