Audience Reactions from the New York Premiere

Audiences were deeply moved and affected by the film, as evident from the quotes gathered after the premiere:

“‘Galaxy 360: A Woman’s Playground’ is genius! It creates exquisite tension between men and women and how we treat each other. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard and then burst into tears.” – Tracy Vincel, owner of KNOSIS Physiotherapy Wellness.

Galaxy 360 A Woman’s Playground

“It brilliantly opens your eyes to the pressures that are placed on women in an hilarious, clever and creative way that makes all women nod and men realize what we overtly and covertly face daily. Plus, the cast was fantastic, talented and adorable!” —Sherri Savad, SVP Brand Strategist

“‘Galaxy 360: A Woman’s Playground’ is a transformational movie because it inspires people question the way they perceive the world. By switching the roles of men and women, Anna Fishbeyn invites us to become aware of the glaring inequalities between genders. Comedy and humor add to the poignancy of the message. In the movie, men’s actions and words seem utterly ridiculous, and while you laugh your heart out, it then dawns on you that this is the reality for a lot of women. And it is up to us to start the conversation and make the change happen.” —Victoria Yampolsky, President and Founder of The Startup Station, and Co-Founder of PowerUP

Comparison with the “Barbie” Movie

The ‘Barbie’ movie, another film where women rule, has been phenomenally successful, paving the way for female filmmakers. However, “Galaxy 360” is distinct in its portrayal of a world where women rule unapologetically, with zeal and sexual freedom. Set in 2195, the film provides an upside-down lens through which the audience can view a world where male contestants compete to be hotter, younger, and thinner, while female judges enjoy infinite power and wealth. It’s filled with raunchy jokes and a sense of mischief and naughtiness that keeps the audience laughing and coming back for more. This response is evident as a group of women drove 8 hours from Canada to New York just to see the film again at the premiere after watching it at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The film’s buzz, despite its indie status and small budget compared to ‘Barbie’s huge marketing budget, highlights the hunger for films that empower women and speak to their current lives. As many outlets have pointed out, big studios should be making more films by and for women, as that is the crux of ‘Barbie’s appeal, not more films about toys.

Global Impact and Anticipation for Future Screenings

“Galaxy 360” has garnered rave reviews, being hailed as a future “cult classic in the making” by New York Weekly, and an “Important Film [that] Will Become Iconic Both As A Comedy And As A Powerful Message” by Entertainment Monthly News. Anna Fishbeyn has been featured on NBC and CP24, Canada’s National Television, to discuss her film and her membership platform, Anteriya World.

The New York City Premiere had a huge turnout, with guests who arrived in beautiful glittery disco-inspired outfits, and a talk back with the cast and director that was emotional and moving.  The cast and director spoke about the impact of the film on their lives.  Lauren LoGiudice, who plays Clement, a powerful wealthy real estate tycoon, asked the audience to support the film: “The industry does not support bold feminist work” and spoke highly of Anna, adding “It’s such an honor to be part of this project with such a bold creator who pushes the envelope!” Jesse Sneddon (District 11) spoke about the incredible camaraderie of the cast, and about how making the film really brought home to him the ridiculousness of beauty pageants. Brennan Lowery (District 5) got a great audience response when he spoke about “the sheer power and will and awesomeness” of Anna Fishbeyn, the film’s director, for her dedication to the film and faith in the cast. Law Sturdivant (District 12, one of the main love interests in the film) talked about his daughters, pointing out that “they are being objectified on a day-to-day basis. Making this film has opened my eyes to a whole different world that I’d like to change.” Justin Schilling talked about the empathy that the film sparked in him, explaining that “it made me want to be better and have more conversations about gender!” He added: “more people need to see this!” Anna thanked the cast for their incredible talents, their contributions to the film, and their faith in her; “This screening in New York is a dream come true!” she exclaimed in her closing remarks.

A sheer stroke of genius with a lot of laughter

In the wake of the #MeToo movement and a global awakening to the struggles faced by women in society, Anna Fishbeyn’s ingenious creation couldn’t be more timely. The movement shed light on the deep-seated issues of gender inequality, sexual harassment, and the abuse of power, igniting conversations and demanding change worldwide. Anna, with her razor-sharp wit and insightful observations, has not only managed to capture the essence of this cultural shift but has also wrapped it in layers of humor, making it an incredibly engaging and accessible watch. Given the current climate and the film’s clever approach to addressing these issues, ‘Galaxy 360: A Woman’s Playground’ is expected to go viral, sparking conversations, laughter, and, hopefully, change.
