Super model, Stephanie Seymour just lost the apple of her eye. Take a look at Harry Brant's life and how he changed the modelling game forever.

Here’s how Stephanie Seymour’s son followed in his mother’s footsteps

Yesterday, the Seymour family was struck by tragedy when twenty-four-year-old Harry Brant died of an accidental drug overdose. Brant, the son of supermodel Stephenie Seymour, was an avid influencer himself. In what ways did he follow in his mother’s footsteps?

Who was Harry Brant?

Harry Brant was born in Connecticut on August 3rd, 1996. According to Vogue, his days consisted of flashy outfits, reading books, and consuming classic cinema, while his nights were filled with out-on-the-town thrills. Brant and his brother, Peter, have been staples of the New York social scene for over a decade now.

At the young age of sixteen, Brant showed up at the Met Gala in a Yves Saint Laurent jacket and a dramatic smokey eye. From then on, he became an important figure in pushing the limits of gender in fashion & makeup. “From now on when people ask me what I ‘do,’” he once said, “I’m just gonna say icon.”

In 2015, Brant and his brother staked their claim in the makeup industry when they launched a line of unisex makeup at MAC. Brant explained his inspiration for the line to Interview Magazine: “One of the reasons I love doing other people’s makeup so much is because, as a very self-conscious person, I know how liberating the tiniest cosmetic can make you feel.”

Brant continued: “So, when you’re able to accentuate the beauty someone has within themselves that they perhaps weren’t able to see, it’s kind of magical.”

Harry Brant and his mother

With Harry Brant’s influence on the fashion & makeup industry, it was difficult to forget that he was the son of the iconic model Stephanie Seymour, who essentially defined her own generation, like Brant was on the path to do with his. On his Instagram account, he would regularly share old photos of his mother and reference her career often in interviews.

After graduating high school at Rye Country Day School in New York, Brant enrolled at Bard College and inserted himself even further into the lifestyle of a social celeb. While at Bard, he contributed regularly to Interview Magazine, speaking to celebrities like Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Lorde, and Annie Lennox.

But Brant’s life was troubled behind the scenes. According to The New York Times, Brant was supposed to enter a rehab center prior to his death. The family said in a statement: “We will forever be saddened that his life was cut short by this devastating disease. He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much Harry could have done.”

Brant’s family added: “Harry was not just our son. He was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favorite uncle and a caring friend. He was a creative, loving and powerful soul that brought light into so many people’s hearts. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out.”

Who is Stephanie Seymour?

Stephanie Seymour was born in 1968 in San Diego, California, to a real estate-developer and hair stylist. At a young age, Seymour knew she wanted to be a model, and modeled in local newspapers and department stores in her hometown at the age of sixteen.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Seymour’s modelling career really took off, appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and on the cover of Vogue. She also was a regular model for Victoria’s Secret, which was just getting its start at the time.

By the 1990s, Seymour was celebrated as one of the most famous supermodels in the world, alongside Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, and Claudia Schiffer.
