Will ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ get cancelled after her health scare?

Very recently updated across entertainment news platforms is Wendy Williams’ return as host of The Wendy Williams Show. Many folks aren’t sure if she can keep doing the show and obviously, she’ll be needed in production. All good things must come to an end but fans just want a straight answer at this point: Will the show be cancelled?

Wendy Williams’ return to her possibly soon-to-be cancelled show has been pushed back in the midst of her recovery from complications of Graves’ disease and a thyroid condition, in accordance with the show.

October 12, 2021

Well, has the show been cancelled or what? The Wendy Williams Show will return as planned on October 18, 2021 for its season 13 premiere but strangely, Williams will not be the host.

In a Tuesday statement on Instagram, The Wendy Williams Show said, Wendy “is making progress, but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves’ disease and her thyroid condition. It has been determined that more time is needed before she is able to return to her live hosting duties.”

For the time being, the iconic host will be replaced with guest hosts and panels which the syndicated series says is soon to be announced. The statement added, “Wendy is a valued and stalwart member of the Debmar-Mercury family and has been so for twelve years. We want her health to be her top priority.”

They want the public to know that, “As soon as she’s ready, she will be back in her treasured purple chair. We very much appreciate the respect for Wendy’s privacy, as well as all the good wishes from her fans, station partners and advertisers.”

COVID-19

The premier that was originally scheduled for September 18, had been pushed back to October 4 after Williams tested positive for coronavirus. Upon the time of announcement, the show’s account said, “Wendy will not be returning with new shows on October 4. Her breakthrough COVID case is no longer an issue and she had tested negative, but she is still dealing with some ongoing medical issues.”

The Wendy Williams Show added, “Williams has been and continues to be under a doctor’s care and is still not ready to return to work.” The production had to fully abide by SAG/AFTRA and DGA COVID-19 protocols

Health

When it comes to health, Wendy Williams has tackled many maladies over the last few years. Graves’ disease is an immune system disorder dating back to the late nineteen nineties. The host passed out on live T.V. back in 2017 during the show’s Halloween episode which was attributed to dehydration.

Last year, the show was on hiatus due to the pandemic. But they had a short remote situation with Williams broadcasting from her New York apartment. In December, production ceased for several weeks once more so Wendy could be with her family following the death of her mother.

The latest

As you figured, The Wendy Williams Show has not been cancelled. Williams’ return has been delayed to November at the earliest, with the announcement of the guest hosts Sherri Shepherd and Whitney Cummings. Cummings is expected to host the show from October 25 to 29 and she’ll be followed by Shepherd come the week of November 1, 2021.

The nationally syndicated Wendy Williams Show is produced and distributed by Debmar-Mercury and has been renewed through the 2021-2022 season by the Fox Television Stations. Fans are in the clear now but nothing is set in stone when it comes to the future. Enjoy the show as much as you can because we’ll never know when the news of a cancelled production will come!
