Award-winning actor Johnny Depp turns fifty-eight today, June 9th. While the actor has been under some harsh controversy lately regarding his divorce and abuse scandals with actress Amber Heard, we’ve figured we should still celebrate the actor today for his prolific acting career throughout the years. Johnny Depp has played some super iconic characters in numerous movies. Let’s take a look down memory lane at his career here.
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
First off, we can’t forget about this classic 90s Tim Burton masterpiece. Johnny Depp has worked with Tim Burton on several occasions, and they make a perfect duo because Depp has the perfect look for some of Burton’s offstandish & quirky characters. To this day, the director still considers this film to be one of his favorite movies. We also can’t forget about the superbowl commercial of Timothee Chalamet impersonating him!

It’s a wonderful and offbeat fantasy romance, and this film is also regarded as a classic not just because of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, but also because of the lovely and talented Winona Ryder who plays Edward Scissorhands’ love interest. This is truly an iconic flick anyone can enjoy.
Pirates of the Caribbean franchise
Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies as Captain Jack Sparrow is arguably one of his most iconic characters he’s ever played to date. After all, there’s a reason why this franchise spans five films; we just can’t get enough of Captain Jack Sparrow! What we loved about this series wasn’t just the plot & story, but also the lovable and goofy personality of Jack Sparrow that Depp so effortlessly brought out.

After taking a long break from his factory, he finally surprises the world one day by inviting five lucky children on a tour in his factory. This movie is full of laughs, weirdness, lots of humorous songs by the Oompa-Loompas of course, and is sure to keep you entertained throughout.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
Like we’ve already mentioned, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton working together on movies is the ultimate dream team. After all, this is the third movie from Tim Burton that we’ve mentioned on this list, as Johnny Depp has really played some of his most iconic characters, and we definitely can’t forget about Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Johnny Depp’s role of Sweeney Todd in this film even won the actor the Golden Globe for Best Actor. This dark yet fun musical is all about an English barber who murders his customers with his razors and with his accomplice, played by the equally iconic Helena Bonham Carter, the two turn their corpses into meat pies. If you haven’t yet seen this musical, this is truly a must-watch film.
